About Carla Dal Mas

  • At age 14 I joined a technical high school program related to construction. At age 16 I joined an Architecture Office as a drafter and going to Architecture School seemed like the right choice at the time, though I did get tempted by Psychology. Once in Architecture School, I became impressed by the potential of Architects as change agents.

  • My university provided me with a dual program - Architect and Urban Planner. I interned for two years at the Urban Design Department and became very passionate about the many layers that shape the urban environment.

  • At age 14 I moved to the big city for the technical high school away from my parents so I could have access to better education and a better chance to get into a good university program.

At age 22 after graduating from University I left for California to spend six months and never left. Americans changed the way I saw the design process.

At age 33 I spent six months traveling through India and Nepal. While there I spent six weeks in Ahmedabad as a guest designer at Abhikram. Nimish Patel changed the way I saw sustainability.

A year later I spent six months in Sao Paulo as an Architecture for Humanity Design Fellow assisting a non-profit with their favela project. The client Neide Santos changed the way I saw the power of community.

  • I am here to make a difference. Be it in small ways like going to the streets for protests, promoting sustainability on an individual level or at work, and, perhaps, in a bigger way, changing my career around to do what I believe will bring the most impact to the climate justice movement - infuse those in the movement with wellbeing.

  • Even though I didn’t end up doing Psychology at University, I’ve explored the psychology of emotions and behavioral patterns by studying Buddhist Psychology and Philosophy.

In the last twenty years, I have accumulated hundreds of hours of workshops in this area, including topics such as destructive emotions, mindfulness-based stress reduction, conflict resolution, compassion, and altruism in daily life.

I’ve also accumulated over two hundred days of retreats combined. My daily meditation practice is a continuing ally to how I show up in the world.

  • In 2020 I enrolled in the NLP Marin school for more self-discovery. In a few months, the techniques learned and experienced there revealed themselves as life-changing.

Catalyzed by my change agent drive, I made the resolve to continue the program for the purpose of becoming a Transformational NLP practitioner. I successfully wrapped up three years of training by participating as a Teaching Assistant. Carl Buchheit continues to change the way I see the mind’s potential for healing, change, and adaptability.

  • In 2022 I invested my time in a self-development community led by Brian C. Johnson. I’d followed his work for almost a decade and now witnessed the birth of his platform to train heroes, properly named Heroic.us.

I completed the Heroic Coach Certification and continue to engage in this community through a Lifetime Coach Membership. This is how I choose to show up for Brian’s aspiration which is to help create a world in which 51% of the world’s population is flourishing by the year 2051. Brian C. Johnson continues to change the way I see the power of consistency and community.

  • Self-transformation does not come from knowledge alone. It requires embodiment through the release of stuck energy, a.k.a. trauma.

I continue to experiment with the Mind-Body balancing act by studying and applying various Nervous System Regulation techniques taught by Irene Lyon - a nervous system specialist and somatic neuroplasticity expert. Irene Lyon changed the way I saw the Mind-Body connection.

I’m a Wellbeing Strategist passionate about assisting design and helping industry professionals in creating their idiosyncratic path toward optimal work performance while cultivating a more balanced lifestyle.

Through my own journey, I have come to appreciate there isn’t one solution for everyone, there’s only what works for you at a given time. Much like a scientist, I have explored many tools, techniques, and therapies, resulting in my own toolkit filled with infinite possible solutions - wellbeing strategies.

My work is informed by our human potential to evolve, adapt, and change through our own volition toward more positive states that benefit ourselves and our environment. This potential becomes more and more apparent as we move from survival mental states toward more flourishing mental states.

Many life threads infuse and inform the work that I do -
